Summer Davis is a Cipher, a person chosen to help people resolve problems with their loved ones before they die. She’s just gotten her second job when weirder-than-usual things start happening. There seems to be a rift between her and the afterlife, and she’s seeing things she shouldn’t, including people who have already passed on. As she struggles to help her new assignment, Liam, make amends with his incarcerated father, she finds it hard to balance being a high school student, Cipher, and girlfriend.
Troy’s been nothing but supportive, but Summer can see her secret weighs on him, and she worries the more she tells him, the sooner he’ll decide he can’t deal with her freaky life. But when a murderer is thrown into the mix, and the girl he killed keeps asking Summer for help, she’ll risk everything to make sure the guy gets what he deserves.
The cover of Rift by Cindi Madsen is just as amazing as the first book in the series, Cipher.
"I just want to pretend to be a normal high school girl who makes out with her boyfriend in the parking lot before school."
Summer's ability isn't sugar coated gumdrops. Her tasks continue to be a burden to her, but the harmony she gives the nearly departed completes their last wish for a peaceful passing. What a beautiful gift to them.
I feel for Summer. Many emotions come with her responsibilities and then she has her own personal matters to deal with. On top of that, she has an unexpected addition to her intuition. She hears and sees the dead. Some visions a sight for sore eyes; death a lurking distraction, with a creepy killer in arm's reach. I have chills just thinking about it! Cindi Madsen has her readers visualizing those scenes as if they are witnessing it for themselves. Ooo weeee Summer Dear, stay out of them grave yards with all that vision cray cray going on. I'd a shot out of there like a 22 straight out of a barrel.
Ikes! Summer has her work cut out for her in the second novel in the Cipher series, Rift. Time lines, drama, mediating, decisions, complications, fear, curiosity, responsibility, frustration ... It's all so much. Way too much for a teen to deal with. Then she's blasted with her current assignment bringing back painful memories of the loss of her late mother. How would she be able to bring peace to a criminal and not hate him instead? Summer was in a very tricky situation. I have to say I was very impressed with how she was able to handle it. It wasn't easy, and rightfully so.
With all of that said, her boyfriend Troy isn't too thrilled with the other person she has to mediate with. Liam is a total flirt; easy to get attached to. So, we have some tension in da house to leave you with some wondering and second guessing.
Troy got hotter in Rift, totally rip. The fact that he's a drummer is definitely a turn on. And I liked reading about his jealous side. He really is one supportive, serene beau. I'd hook line and sink his ass if I were Summer.
Between the challenge of Summer's assignment and her destiny causing a rocky relationship, hopefully devastation will steer clear.
I am glad the author continued Ashlyn's memory. She was a character I really liked in Cipher. We were introduced to a new character in Rift, Mercedes, who I really enjoyed. I enjoy the friendships that Cyndi includes in her writing. Romance is always a plus to have, but throw in some great friendships and that makes a really good book for me.
And OMG Cindi!! You had to end it with Troy. Hot dammit girl! Don't you make me wait no year to find out!! And for the love of curiosity and anticipation--- make Summer and Troy boink!! ;;))
Cindi is an all around cool gal and a great author. I've said it before in my reviews of her previous books and I'll say it again- her writing is original, entertaining and written with plenty emotion. I'll always look forward to reading her books and showing my support for a fantastic author.

Cover Reveal: FOR ALWAYS by Janae Mitchell + Giveaway
For Always
Coming November
2013
* Book #1 in the For
Always Series *
Synopsis
Malyn Reed meets, and quickly falls in love with, Beau
Brogan, who seems to be perfect in every way…
Except for the fact that he died in 1910…
Malyn Reed has been
able to see spirits her entire life. Now that she’s almost seventeen, she has
learned to differentiate between the living and the dead, making her gift feel
less like an evil curse. She ignores the spirits she encounters on a daily basis,
which has made living side by side with them slightly easier…until she moves to
Dandridge, the second oldest town in Tennessee.
Beau Brogan was a
hard working country boy from Dandridge, Tennessee who loved his family and
stole the hearts of many southern belles. But all of that came to a tragic halt
at the age of nineteen when his life came to an untimely end. For the past
hundred years, his spirit has been entombed in a ghostly life of loneliness and
misery that he wishes would just end…until the Reeds move in.
About
the Author
Janae has been a writer since she
was old enough to hold a pencil. Her genre of choice was poetry and short
stories—until now. After falling in love with so many books over the past
decade, she decided that she wanted to write a novel of her own and bring life
to the characters that haunt her mind. It wasn't until 2012 that she pursued that
passion and started on her first YA novel. 115,000 words later, For Always was
born.
Having grown up in an historical
Dandridge home that was used as slave quarters during the Civil War, she
experienced several things that couldn't be explained. Due to these events, she
sought out and joined an investigative team called Eyewitness Paranormal. Her
interest in ghosts and the unexplained, combined with her love for telling a
story, made writing the For Always series inevitable.
Janae was born and raised in East
Tennessee, where she currently resides with her husband, two children, and
their hairless dog, Slick. In her spare time, she likes to read, play tennis,
and spend time with her family on the lake.

REVIEW ~ The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?
Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.
A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?
Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

Woo, what a title! The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, by Jennifer E. Smith was a really sweet, engaging story. It was a quick read. The cover, absolutely adorbs and very fitting to the book.
Missing your flight by 4 minutes sucks. So, whaddya do to past time until your next scheduled flight? Well, we know at least one thing. Be on time for that flight!
In the mean time, you can slobber over the friendly, hot British dude whose imperfections make him perfect. Or continue to sulk over that dreadful wedding you can't be late for, or the spat you had earlier with your mom. - but I mean, hot British dude that you met at the airport and boards same flight as you can totally take your mind off that, for now.
Statistically, I could totally see this happening. You really can get to know someone on a 7 hour flight. And most definitely I do believe in love at first sight.
The comfort Oliver provided to Hadley on the plane was genuine. It was a pleasure to read how he was able to understand the disappointment she'd suffered from and calm her nerves. And one underlined verse in a book can make realization sink in. If you let it.
But, there were times when he was at unease. Perhaps they have something in common? Would Hadley discover what it was?
Ding. 7 hours were up and Hadley and Oliver had to go their separate ways. Made me pout a bit. Where do they go from here? What would Hadley discover about Oliver? Someone does always have it worse than you.
I found that Hadley had a hard time in letting go of her family past in order to move on with the future. It would be good to see her open up to new family memories.
This story was surrounded around chance. Two people meet up at a certain time in their life, grieving for their different reasons. And now, they have the other to hold. And to make a new beginning.
I'm not keen on third person single POVs, and for the body of the story, I wished it had more endearment, but the story was charming enough to continue my read.

Summary from Goodreads:
*A novella to the best-selling
New Adult novel STRIPPED*She was broken when I met her, shattered from the death of her sister and running from love. Not to sound like an egotistical douche or anything, but I fixed her. Put her back together, filled in the cracks, and made her whole. A true fairytale in her eyes.
But now real life is getting in the way: school, jobs, and the unexpected opportunity to travel the world under a legendary photographer. This internship will open doors not even my father’s influence could. It’s something I’ve been waiting all my life for. But so is Quinn, and accepting this internship will mean leaving her.
And breaking her all over again.
Review:
So, I kind of fell pretty hard for Torrin Kingsley in Stripped, and when I got word that Brooklyn Skye had decided to write a novella from his POV I about peed my pants! Without You is an excellent and natural extension of Stripped, and the characters remain true to the first book. There's no drastic change in attitude or anything like that. This novella centers around the natural course of a relationship, and even though Quinn and Torrin's relationship has always been anything but normal, the challenges they now face are common.
The struggle that Torrin faces becomes a serious problem for him and Quinn because he doesn't share it with her. I love their relationship and all the ways their pasts have shaped it. Torrin's fear of losing Quinn is reasonable. Believable. It's a real and tangible separation they face, and this fear is what is most appealing in this novella.
If you loved Stipped, you'll absolutely adore Without You, so don't hesitate to pick it up today!
