Before I start the review, I gotta give my girl- known as my fic sis, a shout out for sending this book to me. Thank you my Claire, for sending me such an awesome read!!

So- this book got double love from me because I've read it twice. When I originally read it, I had this elaborate review saved in the notes on my phone, and my brilliant kid got ahold to it, and POOF- deletes it. UGH!

Sooooo, after 6ish months, I picked up Easy for the second time and re-wrote the review it highly deserves.


Easy, written by Tammara Webber is one of those books you can't get enough of. As I've mentioned, this was my second time reading it and I'm sure I've enjoyed more than reading it the first time. If time allowed, I would have read this book in one sitting. Needless to say, when I wasn't reading, all I could do was think about it.

I can't imagine the fear of being blindsided by a long term relationship being terminated, and then suffering from an attempted rape. Talk about traumatic.

I totally couldn't blame Jacqueline in being absent from economics class for two weeks that she'd shared with her now ex douche-face of a boyfriend. Thankfully, her professor was empathetic enough to set her up with a tutor to keep from failing.

The interaction between J and her tutor via email was fun and flirty. Throughout the book I looked forward to their correspondence.

But then there's the guy who had came to her savior- Lucas. He's suave and full of chivalry. He's got the looks of a bad boy, but a heart of gold. His eyes. My lord. Swoon overload!!! And I'm most certain he's got some magic in those pants. Abracadabra baby! I wanna reach out and grab ya! He must be like magic, cause he was popping up everywhere Jacqueline was, and I found myself waiting for each of those encounters. I'm totally with J's friend, Erin's reaction to Lucas. "Holy Fuckburgers!" I mean, Lucas is the epiphany of hot. I wanna be the ring attached to his lip. Instead of "Operation Bad Boy Phase," it should be 'Operation Wanna Boink Lucas.'

Erin is such an admiration. She was beautiful and strong and sweet, and I was so very proud of her. She was a girl that stood her ground, but such in a daintyful way.

This book helped me realize that some secrets do have positive purpose behind them, as well as history. Guilt can eat you up as well, but honesty can render happiness. The past can be so painful, but with support, can be bearable and the suffering can start to heal.

I got all dramatic halfway through this book and towards the end, as I did the first time, and I huffed, and I puffed, and I honestly thought I was going to blow my house down. But I refrained. I chilled, kept reading to the ending that I knew would be beautiful.

This book was chock full of desire and peaked my every interests. It was a wonderful read and had my mind, respect and sympathy embedded in the emotions of this story.

 "The way he kissed me felt like a brand. Like he was tattooing himself under my skin."

^^^That was one of the most sensual references to a kiss I've ever read.^^^

I look forward to reading more of Tammara Webber's books!

Excerpt

From his trunk, he pulls two bodies that are clearly women with sackcloth over their heads. Damn, they have some good-looking bodies. Carlos is going to shit a brick when I show him what he gets to “take care of” for the next couple of weeks. I turn two barrels over upside down and place them beside each other. All the employees have stopped their work, and now all the attention is on the two females being lead to the barrels. I signal to Richard to let them sit. He sits them down. They are deathly still. Their hands are handcuffed together in the front and they are both in jeans and designer tops.

            “Looks like we’ve hit the jackpot. Maybe we shouldn’t kidnap, but we should ransom,” I say looking over at the designer clothes and shoes. I raise my voice for all the workers to hear. “Let this be a lesson to all of you. This is what happens when you cross me. This is what will happen to your wives and daughters. Got that?” I yell it loud, and I notice one of the girls starts to tremble. Good. I need to instill the fear of God in these two as well. A few of the employees nod, but most look down at the ground in fear. “I didn’t hear any of you. YOU GOT THAT?”

            I hear a low grumble throughout the warehouse, and I know that I have their attention. “Okay, Carlos. Do the honors since I’m putting you in charge.” He walks over to the girls with a sick grin on his face and I can only wonder what’s going through his deranged mind. He steps up to them and lifts off the sackcloths simultaneously.

            The first sight I see are those blue eyes; the ones that look into the depths of my soul. Next, it’s the blonde hair.

            Sitting right in front of me is Claire.

Leigh Clary Abdou is a graduate from the University of Georgia and wrote her first book in the third grade. That story, along with a collection of poems and other books, can still be found in their original location - a purple Trapper Keeper.

REVIEW ~ Defriended by Ruth Baron

A friend request from beyond the grave...

The blue creepy eye full of fear is what stopped me in my tracks in the YA section at B&N. The cover EYED, "Pick me!" and it had me at "LACEY has changed her status to deceased." Ooh. Ooh. Ooh!!!

What a fun, super duper creepy read. Defriended, by Ruth Baron was a quick read that kept my eyes glued wide to each page. Poltergeist  -- or is it? -- meets social networking = fantabulous story line = insane in the brain!! Really neat premise behind these pages full of suspense. There were some turn of events and not what I'd expected.

 "When something seemed too good to be true, that's usually because it was."

Jason had a crush on a girl he'd never met. They corresponded via IM and shared common interests. But every time he mentioned a physical introduction, Lacey always had an excuse. So, Jason used the ever so handy dandy google and was pretty astonished at what he'd discovered.

 "It was like he'd been searching for a glass of water and instead found himself at the edge of an ocean armed only with his hands."

With his discovery came along his version of the game Clue, paranormal activity meets CSI.

I really loved the lyrics in this book that Jason had written. I had envisioned the perfect beat and guitar strum to go along with them. I want this song to be real.

I totally got Jason's feelings. Falling for someone who wasn't real. I do it all the time with fictional characters. Thing is, he really didn't know who he was falling for, or what he had gotten himself into. When you are behind a computer, it's easy to get mixed messages. But was he? What he and Lacey had, was it real? Is she real? Was this worth his while?

This book had great characters and an awesome plot! Hi fives at the music mentioned and a huge shout out for making things seem what they weren't.

This book had kept me at the edge of my seat. Stuff was popping out everywhere unexpected. It was creepy and full of mystery. It was twisted and sick and taunting. Baton jerked me with all the tantalizing twists. I'm glad I snagged the only copy of Defriended by Ruth Baron left on the shelf at B&N.

People or things may not be what they seem on the other side of that screen my peeps!!
