REVIEW ~ Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire (Adult-ish)

Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Great googly moogly!! OH MY GOD! This book was a perfect, hot mess!! I finally got to see what all the rave was about- some negative (unfortunately you can't please everyone) but mostly positive! Soooo it was a gamble, and I hit the jackpot-- and I didn't need no stinkin' poker face!! Pure mutha effin bliss this is. Everything about it! The story, the characters, the narration, the writing. The tension, the craving, the intensity. Everything that can go into the development of an astonishing story is in this book. Holy crap Jamie McGuire, I could totally mack out with your mind right now <-- because that doesn't sound creepy, right? Just don't go all UFC on me... it's just the fandom coming outta me. With that rant said, please note that this is a mature read. It doesn't even touch erotica, it's just a clusterfuck of a relationship and some situations could be perhaps uncomfortable for some readers because of anger management, possessiveness and aggression issues. There was no bullying or physical abuse between a girl and guy. Emotional... slightly. It's just... You'll have to read it and decide for yourself. So I'd say this is a read for ages 16 on up.

They said this book would be addictive. That's not a lie. You get sucked into this book with every word. You don't want to put it down, and when you do... You get the redass and it's all you can think about. Even after you finish reading, it's all you can think about. Its like you want to go all Edward on it and be like, "You're like a drug to me." I don't even want to read anything else for a few days just so I can stay on this book high. I'm telling you this book oozes awesome!

Abby was warned not to fall for Travis Maddox. Heh... That right there gives a girl the automatic green light. But really, how can you resist a hawt, confident, erratic, snarky college dude with abs and tattoos and will kick ass to kingdom come! Dude left me all woozy and stuff. I'd straddle his uh, motor cycle anytime!

Abby worked so hard to turn around her past. Her improved side said to avoid Travis because of the familiarity. She tries. Pulls the friend card. She even busts out unappealing fashion antics. I can't even fathom how hard it is to be Abby when it comes to Travis. Especially when she has to make a choice. However, it looks like those methods backfire and makes her irresistible to Travis Maddox. Home girl plays her cards, but can she deal them? She kills me with some of her antics/intentions. At times, I wanted to go all fight girl on her- but all this leads her in letting her guard down; that you can't let your past predict your future. Unless the past pops up on the street one night. I hate that poor, perfect Parker got caught up in all this. But hey... It is what it is.

Travis isn't just a piece of meat like he leads you to believe. He's got some knowledge to back up those beefy muscles. Something else he has is feelings. And a tough past as well. All that resiliency that Abby tries to conjure up just baits Adam's pursuit and guides him to something he's never experienced. Can you be obsessed and love someone too much? Not without reason. Or is it?

There are times when this story is extreme, but peeps, there are really relationships out there like this. Whether we think it's healthy or not, it works for them. And for them, it's something beautiful. A bet will lead to their Beautiful Disaster and will have you on the read coaster of your life!!

It's kinda funny for me personally falling for Travis Maddox. I don't go for the affliction clad of boys or anyone with an aggressive attitude. But I guess I got to know the real side of Travis vs. the facade I based him upon or any guy with Travis' structure. Hmmm. Well how 'bout that! Just goes to show you, don't judge a guy based on his cover, lol!

Just say yes to Beautiful Disaster and get addicted!! Best book crack ever!!!

Walking Disaster, the second installment of Beautiful Disaster hits the shelves on 4/2/2013. See Jamie's website for pre-order details. I'm cutting splits at how excited I am to read Travis' POV!!
