Anytime Olivia asks her parents about the past, her mom would always throw the words "fresh start" at her. And lawdy, her mama was suffocating and a germaphobe. I was scared to sneeze while I read, lol! Sooooo, that leaves us with a very anxious, determined girl to decipher her secret past by digging up the truth.
She knew
something wasn't right. Who was she? What happened? Her dreams... are they
becoming realities or is it just figments? Is it a blessing in disguise that
she doesn't recall her past?
It peaked
my interest to read about Olivia's first day of school. With kids her
age. I could only imagine as I read the overwhelming shock this girl was in and
the insecurities she felt. The sights, the clicks, the cruelty- trying to find
where you fit in. Trying to make friends. Boys. To be the new girl, unconfident
and confused. Aaaaaaaahhhhh- emotional overload!
I have to
do a squeeeeeedoodle here (Eeeeeeee!!!). We have us an attraction, and a fun one
full of mystery! Spencer, you suspense me (wink). This boy was great- because
not enough books have intriguing, adventurous, hot geeky boys with shaggy hair
and glasses AND a bad boy past. Plus he had a calming effect. But so did Liv. I
loved reading their development, their personas and their relationship. He also
knows how to handle his balls. *slap!* Getchyo mind outta the gutter! Bowling balls that is.
And Clay
the pretty boy jock toy. He seemed so sweet and really took a liking to Liv. No
holds barred on that one!
All the
Broken Pieces is very eccentric and in a league if its own as far as I'm
concerned. It's enjoyable, a simple read and will have your interest spiking at
every chapter. What happens in this story, the experiences and senses this girl
goes thru, the discoveries she makes, her thoughts, her feelings about herself,
her memory unfolding, dreams having meaning, it all keeps you reading those
pages to see where they lead and how this girl becomes whole again. Props to
Cindi Madsen for writing a truly mesmerizing, unpredictable and impressive
story. Can't wait to high fives and huggles you at RT 2013!
